WELLNESS CHALLENGE #1: THREE WEEKS OF YOGA

Hello February! Not quite sure how we got here so quickly, but January just flew by (for the most part.) 2018 has already been such an emotional rollercoaster for me. It started off on a low (break-ups are never easy or clean), then went to it's highest high (whilst in Tulum!!), then it came crashing down shortly after my arrival back to NYC when I got bacterial pneumonia (yikes). So I'm pretty happy to have January done with and so ready to start fresh again this month.

Just a couple days ago, my roommate Kat and I were having our usual, evening convo about life when we reminisced about our recent trip to Tulum. Besides living in paradise for 5 days, we loved being able to practice yoga everyday in the most beautiful, inspiring spaces. However, the best part of all was the feeling we were left with after those hour long yoga sessions.

A little back story about us—we live very active lifestyles. She goes to crossfit regularly, and I (prefer cardio based workouts) like to switch things up between running, spin, boxing and HIIT classes (thanks to ClassPass - use this link to get $40 off your first month!). But yoga wasn't something I practiced...quite frankly, I thought of yoga as just a good stretch, and didn't consider it a workout. While Kat has started practicing yoga a bit more frequently, I had jumped on the band wagon in Mexico and just haven't gotten off of it.

So that's what led to this idea of committing 3 weeks (we would have done a month if the yoga gym near us offered a month long, new member offer, but they don't) to yoga. This is on top of our regular workout schedules. And when I say three weeks, that doesn't mean 21 straight days of yoga, as that would be a little too ambitious and unrealistic, but rather committing to yoga every other day plus a few days when we feel like it.

I'll be checking in at the end of each week (inspired by one of my fave bloggers, Grace Atwood), with small yoga victories, how I feel, and let you know how I'm doing overall on the challenge! And if anyone in NYC is interesting in joining us, we'll be taking classes at Sky Ting starting Monday 2/5!
